Anti-Bullying

Roughwood recognises there is a need to safeguard the welfare of all those within the school community and to encourage cooperation, tolerance and harmony.

We are committed to providing a caring, friendly and safe environment for all pupils so they can learn in a relaxed and secure atmosphere.  We have high expectations of all pupils and strive to create a climate in which all children can fulfil their potential.

Bullying of any kind is unacceptable at any school within the Willow Tree Academy.  If bullying does occur, all pupils should know that incidents will be dealt with promptly and effectively.  Each school within the academy is a telling school and anyone who knows that bullying is happening should be able to inform a member of staff in confidence. Every classroom has a worry box where children can post their worries. These are checked by adults and any concerns are dealt with quickly. https://roughwoodprimary.org/worry-boxes/

We also scale with children daily. This allows us to talk about how we are feeling and identify where children are feeling sad, worried or anxious. If any child scales a 1 or a 2 an adult will always speak with them. Please visit our Restorative Practice and Behaviour Page

In school, we have a zero-tolerance approach to bullying and we offer training and support for parents on the topic of bullying. Please watch our parent training session on our website at: https://roughwoodprimary.org/2022/11/25/anti-bullying-parent-workshop/

To support children to understand the significance of bullying and what to do when we see it, School Council created a child-friendly Anti-Bullying policy which you can download HERE. Please read this carefully with your child if you feel they may be being bullied.

You can read our full Anti-Bullying Policy and Behaviour Policy on our policies page: Policies & Legal Information
