Children’s well-being is an important part of school life at Roughwood. All staff have received Emotion Coaching training to support children to recognise, validate and process their feelings.
Our Restorative Practice approach underpins our Behaviour Policy and through building stronger relationships and repairing harm we have built an environment where all children can feel happy, safe and secure. Scaling in school allows staff and children to quickly express how they are feeling to each other in a simple way by rating how they feel from 1 to 5. Read more about Restorative Practice & Scaling Here.
Every classroom also has a worry box which School Council developed and implemented across the school. Worry Boxes are another method in which children can communicate their feelings with staff to be recognised and validated. Read more about our Worry Boxes here.
