Class 6 travel to Manor Lodge

During today’s visit to Manor Lodge linked to our learning about the Elizabethans, we have explored the ruins of a previous grand Manor House, with taking us back hundreds of years and meeting Bess of Hardwick!

Throughout the day, the children have found out how the Tudor aristocracy and learned about their daily lives. The children have learnt about key figures from history including Mary (Queen of Scots), George Talbot, and Bess of Hardwick and learnt about how to dine at a Tudor banquet.

The children have learnt about how Mary spent her time in captivity, spent time in the herb garden learning about apothecary (making our own pomanders) and investigated Elizabethan clothing.

Take a look at the different items at the banquet! To finish the day, the children analysed natural remedies from this specific Era – who would have thought that you could have cured asthma by eating pigeon droppings…
