We are thrilled to share the fantastic news from our latest Ofsted inspection report following the inspectors’ visit on 30 June 2026. Roughwood Primary School has officially been rated as reaching a Strong standard across every single area evaluated, including Achievement, Attendance and Behaviour, Curriculum and Teaching, Early Years, Inclusion, Leadership and Governance, and Personal Development and Wellbeing. This incredible outcome is a testament to the hard work of our wonderful pupils, the dedication of our skilled staff team, and the invaluable support from our parents, carers, and wider community.
Exemplary Commitment to Inclusion
Inclusion is at the heart of everything we do, and Ofsted praised our warm, welcoming culture where all pupils belong and every child gets their chance to shine. Pupils with SEND, including those who access our enhanced resourced provision, such as LEAF and Nurture, receive bespoke support that ensures they make excellent progress through the curriculum. Staff identify additional needs quickly, while our systems ensure vulnerable and disadvantaged pupils receive swift academic and wellbeing support. Furthermore, our pupil premium strategy ensures all pupils access both high-quality learning and enriching life experiences.
Academic Excellence and Inspiring Opportunities
The report notes that across the school, pupils make rapid progress from their individual starting points, leading to Year 6 attainment in reading, writing, and mathematics that is consistently above national averages. Our warm Early Years provision focuses heavily on vocabulary and communication, preparing children exceptionally well for Year 1.
A Calm Community Supported by Willow Tree Academy
Inspectors noted that our high expectations create a culture of care, resulting in impeccable pupil behaviour where children are respectful, considerate, and feel safe with trusted adults. Our success is rooted in our partnership within Willow Tree Academy, with inspectors highlighting the strong collaboration between school leadership, governors, and trust leaders. This sharing of expertise across the trust directly enhances the quality of education we provide, proving every day that “Together anything is possible”.
While we celebrate these brilliant results, we remain dedicated to working closely with families to support high attendance so every pupil can take full advantage of school life.
Thank you to our entire school community for making Roughwood Primary such a vibrant and successful place to learn.
