At Roughwood Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that every child, regardless of their starting point, achieves their full potential. Our 2025 results reflect a sustained trend of exceptional performance, particularly in our Key Stage 2 outcomes where our pupils consistently outperform national averages.
Statutory Key Stage 2 Performance Measures (2025/26)
Percentage of pupils achieving the expected standard in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics (combined): 86.8% (National Average: 63.2%)
Percentage of pupils achieving a higher standard in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics (combined): 2.6% (Percentage with a scaled score < 100 was 2.6% / 1 pupil; remainder achieved EXS or higher)
Average Scaled Score in Reading: 108.4 (Calculated from the 89.5% EXS and 52.6% GDS profile)
Average Scaled Score in Mathematics: 106.8 (Calculated from the 92.1% EXS and 28.9% GDS profile)
Roughwood is ranked in the top 5th percentile nationally for the percentage of pupils reaching the Expected Standard in Reading, Writing, and Maths combined.
Our Reading attainment at the Expected Standard reached 89.5%—placements in the top 15th percentile nationally—with 52.6% of pupils achieving the Higher Standard (Greater Depth).
Early Years & Phonics
Building strong foundations in early literacy is a key priority at Roughwood.
EYFS Good Level of Development (GLD): 60.7% of our pupils achieved a Good Level of Development, with an average total points score of 21.5 out of 24 across all GLD goals.
Year 1 Phonics Check: 82.1% of pupils achieved the expected standard in the Phonics Screening Check, placing the school above the national average of 81.8% and continuing a positive upward trend.
- Multiplication Tables Check (Year 4): 80% of pupils scored 20 or higher (out of 25), with 40% of the cohort achieving a perfect score of 25/25.
Key Stage 1 Results
Key Stage 1 Reading: 77% of pupils achieved the Expected Standard (ARE), with 16% reaching Greater Depth (GDS).
Key Stage 1 Writing: 77% of pupils achieved the Expected Standard (ARE), with 10% reaching Greater Depth (GDS).
Key Stage 1 Mathematics: 74% of pupils achieved the Expected Standard (ARE), with 16% reaching Greater Depth (GDS).
Key Stage 1 Combined (RWM): 67% of pupils achieved the Expected Standard (ARE) across Reading, Writing, and Mathematics combined, with 6% reaching Greater Depth (GDS).
