Self-portraits in Year 6 ✏️🎨

Year 6 have been developing their artistic skills through a fantastic self-portrait project this term. We began by practising sketching techniques in our sketchbooks before using photographs of ourselves to explore symmetry by completing the missing half of our portraits.

The children then moved on to creating their final published pieces, choosing from a range of artistic styles we had explored in previous lessons. These included cubism, realism, cartoon-inspired art, pencil sketching and surrealism. It was wonderful to see each child’s creativity and individuality shine through their work.

The finished portraits were incredibly impressive and demonstrated excellent attention to detail, imagination and growing confidence in different artistic techniques. Well done, Year 6 artists!
