The School Council took a very special trip to the heart of our community. We swapped our classroom desks for the grand corridors of the Town Hall to meet with the Mayor and learn exactly how our local government works!
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly our private audience with the Mayor. Our councillors were invited into the Mayor’s Parlour, where they had the chance to ask questions from “What does a Mayor actually do?” to “What is your favourite part about our town?” The Mayor answered them all with a smile. We learned about the history of the Mayoral Chains and the significance of the town’s mace.
Children shared their own ideas for improving our school and this year, they would like to install a Fish Tank.
