Today, Year 6 became real-life scientists as we completed our very own lamb heart dissection workshop! After learning all about the different parts of the heart in class, we had the chance to explore a real heart up close and see how everything works together.
We discovered that lamb hearts are actually very similar to human hearts in their anatomy, which made the experience even more interesting. The children were fascinated identifying the ventricles, atria, valves and major blood vessels that we had been learning about.
There were lots of “wows”, plenty of curiosity and even a few squeamish faces along the way but everyone got stuck in and showed fantastic teamwork and enthusiasm throughout the session. We had so much fun learning in such a hands-on way!
A huge thank you to Mr Hood for delivering such an engaging workshop and for sourcing the lamb hearts to make this experience possible for us. What an unforgettable morning for Year 6!
