Today, all of EYFS and our grown-ups celebrated the Muslim festival of Eid with a stay and play. Eid al-Adha is the second of the two main festivals in Islam alongside Eid al-Fitr
We came to school in our celebration clothes and got ready to head to the hall.
We completed activities such as making clay crescent moon decorations and creating colourful Eid Mubarak cards. All children really got stuck in with the activities and the parents did too!
On one table, we had henna (face paint) to create our own mehndi patterns . Children enjoyed having the patterns on their hands and arms, some even enjoyed painting their grown ups!
We also tried lots of food that is eaten during Eid celebrations. We had samosas (that were really spicy!), naan bread, raita and dates! Children were extremely brave to try the samosas, some even said they were delicious!
Thank you to all of the parents that came to join the celebrations with us, it was a fabulous way to introduce children so young to the traditions of other cultures around the world.
