Year 5 have been developing their artistic skills through a vibrant new project inspired by the work of artist Deyanira Harris” – a contemporary artist. The children explored how artists use colour to create mood, depth and impact within their artwork.
Using oil pastels, the children experimented with creating tones and tints by blending colours together and adding lighter or darker shades. They carefully practised contrasting warm and cool colours to make sections of their artwork stand out and create eye-catching effects.
Throughout the project, the children developed their blending techniques, learning how to layer and smooth oil pastels to create soft transitions between colours. They showed great creativity and resilience while refining their designs and experimenting with different combinations.
The finished pieces are full of bold colour, texture and expression, beautifully reflecting the inspiration taken from Deyanira Harris’ work. We are incredibly proud of the imagination, focus and artistic confidence shown by Year 5 during this exciting learning journey
