Class 5 kicked off our new Geography topic on Extreme Earth by exploring what lies deep beneath our feet using a very unusual scientific model: a hard boiled egg! 🥚
The children became Earth detectives to investigate the three main layers of our planet:
- The eggshell represented the thin outer Crust.
- The egg white represented the warm, thick Mantle.
- The egg yolk represented the super hot Core right at the center!
We then gently cracked our eggshells to discover tectonic plates! The children saw how the broken shell pieces fit together like a giant floating puzzle and how these massive plates slowly move across the soft mantle underneath.
