This week, Chestnuts have been learning all about Diwali, the Festival of Lights! We began by reading our class text and exploring the beautiful Rangoli patterns that are created to celebrate this special festival.
We looked carefully at the different patterns and the shapes used to create them. We then put our maths skills to the test by creating our very own Rangoli patterns using 2D shapes!
Taking it in turns, we each added a shape to our class pattern, thinking carefully about which shape to choose and where to place it. We worked together to create a beautiful, colourful design, full of different shapes and patterns.
What a lovely way to explore another culture whilst developing our shape recognition, pattern-making and turn-taking skills! ✨
