❄️ Frozen Nature Fun! 🌿

We had such an exciting time learning and playing outdoors! The children explored nature while building their language skills through a fun, hands on activity .

First, we went outside to collect natural treasures like leaves, sticks, flowers and grass. Everyone carefully chose their favourite items and placed them into bags.

Next, we added water to the bags and put them in the freezer. The children were very curious about what would happen.

The following day, we took our frozen creations and placed them into the water tray. The children touched the ice and talked about how it felt. This helped them learn new words and describe what they were experiencing.

We then added water to help melt the ice and free the natural objects. This introduced simple ideas about change and encouraged the children to explore and ask questions.

“I got a stick”
“It’s a leaf”
“I got a flower”
Our basket was full and ready to be put into small bags
“I’m putting flower in”
“Big stick ”
“I’m putting a stick in mine”
“It’s cold, it’s wet!”
“It’s cold and slippery!”
“It’s melted, it’s ice!”
“Cold 🥶”
“I got my stick back out, look!”
“Leaf come out”
“It’s melting!”
