Year 5 Explore the Moon using Art! πŸŒ•πŸŽ¨

This week, our creative Year 5 students have been combining science and art to show their understanding of the phases of the moon in a truly imaginative way!

As part of their space topic in science, the children have been learning how the moon changes shape in the night sky β€” from new moon to full moon and everything in between. To represent each phase, they used a range of sketching techniques including hatching, stippling, circlism, dash shading, and blending.

The results were incredible! Using just pencils and paper, the students created detailed and textured moon drawings that not only showed the correct phase but also captured the surface features and shadows of the moon beautifully.

This activity was a brilliant way to bring science to life through art, and we’re so proud of the skill, focus, and creativity shown by all our Year 5 learners. Well done! πŸŒ™βœοΈ
