HELP! The vegetables are stuck in ice!

In Science this week we have been looking at the changing process of water to ice. We cut up different vegetables and sat them in bags of water. To freeze them, they were placed in the freezer over night. We were left with bags of solid ice.

The children worked in teams using their new learning skill of the week ‘Captain Teamwork’ to try to melt the ice and free the vegetables. We were given 10 minutes to melt the ice as quickly as possible. The children tried lots of methods such as sitting on it, breathing on it and hugging it to melt the ice.

The children came to the conclusion that for the ice to melt it needed to be warmed up. We tried our very hardest to make the ice as warm as possible and change it back to water!
