Today we had the absolute pleasure of opening our doors to welcome our wonderful parents into the LEAF provision for a very special afternoon of connection and creativity: making songboxes with their children!

Next term, we will be learning six wonderful nursery rhymes. Today, our children and parents worked together to create wonderful crafts to go alongside each rhyme. As we know, nursery rhymes are so much more than just catchy tunes—they are fundamental building blocks for a child’s language development, early literacy and  numeracy skills!

Alongside our Songbox crafting, we also gave our parents a special glimpse into one of our absolute favourite classroom activities: Bucket time!

Attention Autism bucket time is a wonderful tool that helps our learners develop and sustain shared attention through exciting, highly visual, and musical interactions. It is always a huge hit here in the LEAF. We then finished with another favourite musical interaction, seeing our learners share that joy, focus, and musical interaction with their parents was lovely.

A massive thank you to all of our wonderful parents for joining in, coming along, and making the afternoon so memorable.
