Sports Premium

Sports Premium

PE and sport matter a lot to us at Roughwood Primary. We believe that an innovative, varied PE curriculum and opportunities for sport outside of school hours have a positive influence on the concentration, attitude and academic achievement of all our children. We offer a full competitive sport programme and many of our learners represent the school in various out of school tournaments.

The DFE awards each primary school in England an annual amount of £16,000 plus an extra £10 per eligible pupil to help fund PE and sport.

What is the Sports Premium?
Schools receive PE and sport premium funding based on the number of pupils in years 1 to 6. School must use the funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of physical education (PE), physical activity and sport you offer.

What do schools use it for?
Schools use the premium to:

  • Develop or add to the PE, physical activity and sport activities that your school already offers
  • Build capacity and capability within the school to ensure that improvements made now will benefit pupils joining the school in future years
