Free School Meals

School Meals

At Roughwood Primary School we pride ourselves in providing children with a well balanced and nutritious meal on a daily basis.  All meals are cooked fresh on site by our team of experienced staff.  Children have a choice of 4 options: Red (meat option), Yellow (Vegetarian option), Green (Sandwich Choice) and Blue (Jacket Potato with a variety of toppings)  Alongside the daily choice there is a fresh salad bar which children can choose from.

Our dedicated team of staff understand all our children’s individual needs and offer alternatives to meet individual children’s dietary needs.  Special events are celebrated by holding regular themed days and the kitchen staff provide excellent meals at Christmas time and picnics for sports day as well as every day of the school year.

We can guarantee that children who choose a school meal will be fully satisfied with their choice which will keep them full until home time.

Free School Meals

Infant School Meals

There is a statutory requirement for schools in England to provide school meals to all pupils in FS2, Year 1 and Year 2.  We are referring to these as the Infant School Meals as they are different to free school meals. Please note that although children will receive the Infant School Meal, you are still required to pay for milk.

Whilst all pupils in these year groups will be provided with a daily infant school meal, it is important that, if you think you are eligible to receive a free school meal, you continue to apply to Rotherham Local Authority.

This is especially important as the extra funding we receive, called Pupil Premium, is dictated by the number of Free School Meal registrations we have!  This money is important to us to provide a world class curriculum, extra teachers and interventions we give your children which mean they progress quicker in our school

Who is Elegible for Free School Meals?
