Year 5 Step Back in Time with Tudor Manchet Bread! πŸžπŸ‘‘

Year 5 travelled back to the Tudor era this week as they took part in a hands-on baking experience, making their very own Tudor Manchet bread!

Working in groups, the children carefully followed a traditional-style recipe, measuring ingredients, kneading dough, and shaping their loaves just as people would have done in Tudor times. The classroom was filled with excitement (and the delicious smell of freshly baked bread!) as each group created their own version of this historic staple.

Once the bread had been baked, it was time for the most important partβ€”evaluation! Each group had previously designed their own Google Form to assess the breads, thinking carefully about criteria such as taste, texture, appearance, and overall quality.

The children then tasted and evaluated each other’s creations, using their forms to collect responses and feedback. This not only helped them reflect on their baking skills but also introduced them to gathering and analysing data in a meaningful way.

It was fantastic to see such a combination of history, design, and technology all in one lesson. The pupils showed great teamwork, creativity, and critical thinking throughout.

Well done, Year 5β€”your baking (and evaluating!) skills were truly impressive! 🌟
