As part of our science learning about rocks and soils, the children in class 4 decided to investigate ‘what happens to different soils when they become wet’ and investigate soil permeability.
The children tested four different souls from different areas of the school ground – near the trees, near the pond, from our school allotment and soil from the field. Children wanted to know if there were any differences between soils collected from different places.
From collecting soils from different locations around school, they added water to these soils.
Take a look at their investigation…
They used:
-Equal amount of soil per sample
-The same amount of water in each sample
-Changed one variable – the temperature of the water
