We are celebrating Wear Yellow Day (often called #HelloYellow) as part of our recognition of World Mental Health Day.
This is a day dedicated to shining a light on mental health and showing our children that it’s perfectly okay to talk about their feelings—happy, sad, worried, or otherwise.
What is the significance of Yellow?
- Hope and Happiness: Yellow is a colour of sunshine, joy, and hope. By wearing it, we’re sending a positive message and brightening up the day for those who might be struggling.
- Visibility and Solidarity: Seeing everyone in yellow creates a powerful visual message: “You are not alone.” It helps reduce the stigma around mental health by showing that we, as a community, care and support each other.
- Starting Conversations: It provides a simple, fun prompt for teachers to discuss topics like kindness, friendship, and emotional well-being with their classes in a child-friendly way.
Our goal is simply to build a supportive school environment where children feel safe, seen, and able to ask for help when they need it. All children have made a Yellow Ribbon badge today to recognise the importance of mental Health.
