What a wonderful day of remembrance and celebration we had today as we marked the 80th anniversary of VE Day! Our children truly embraced the spirit of this important historical event.
We held a special assembly where we learned about Victory in Europe Day – the day World War II officially ended in Europe. The children listened as we discussed the significance of this day and the sacrifices made by so many.
A highlight of the assembly was our enthusiastic rendition of the national anthem, “God Save the King”! We also took a moment to listen to the iconic voice of Dame Vera Lynn, whose songs provided so much comfort and hope during the war years.
The celebrations continued with a fantastic VE Day picnic!
It was a truly memorable day, and we are so proud of how respectfully and thoughtfully our children participated in all the activities. It’s important for them to understand the significance of VE Day and to remember the past.
Thank you to all the staff who helped to make the day so special!
