Year 5 have begun their exciting new history topic all about the Tudors! We started by travelling back to the end of the Middle Ages to learn about the War of the Roses and how this long-running conflict led to the Battle of Bosworth in 1485. The children discovered why this battle was so important and how it marked the beginning of the Tudor dynasty with the rise of Henry VII. Through discussion, timelines and historical enquiry, pupils showed great curiosity and enthusiasm as they laid the foundations for their learning about one of the most fascinating periods in British history. We are looking forward to exploring Tudor life, monarchs and events in the weeks ahead.
