The class enjoyed taking part in a teeth science experiment to learn about plaque and the effects different drinks can have on our teeth. We used Coca-Cola, orange juice, soy sauce, milk and vinegar to observe how each liquid affected an egg, which represented a tooth. The children were especially fascinated to see that the vinegar made the egg go bouncy, helping them understand how acids can affect tooth enamel.
We carefully observed the jars over time, making predictions and noting any changes we could see. This allowed the children to compare the effects of each liquid, discuss their observations, and develop their scientific enquiry skills. The experiment helped reinforce the importance of good dental hygiene in a practical and engaging way.
