Year 6 launched their new literacy unit today with a brilliant balanced discussion session. 💬✨
We began by splitting into groups to explore the question: “Is social media a good thing?” Each group gathered points for and against, thinking carefully about evidence, impact and real-life examples.
We then came together in the hall for a whole-class debate, using confident, challenging terminology and practising how to respond with effective counter-arguments. The children listened respectfully, challenged ideas thoughtfully and showed fantastic speaking and listening skills throughout. 👏
A great start to our discussion and argument unit — lots of critical thinking on display today!
