Unfortunately, following the statement from the Prime Minister on Monday 4th January announcing a National Lockdown, Roughwood School will move to online learning from Tuesday 5th January until February half-term.
Letter to Parents following school closure announcement.
This section of the website is designed to answer any questions relating to remote learning, access to school for children of Critical Workers and what to expect during this period.
Live Lessons Timetable
Firstly, all classes will be holding live lessons where children can engage with their teachers who will teach and explain the learning tasks the children have been set. This is a valuable opportunity for your child to learn with their teacher alongside their peers and we expect daily attendance. We ask that all children attend the lessons via Google Classroom using your child’s Google account. If you are having difficulties in logging in, please contact your child’s teacher for support via Class DoJo. We have staggered the start times of live sessions to support the use of shared devices.

Remote Learning Policy
We have developed a remote learning policy which details what you should expect while school is closed for face to face teaching. It is expected that children attend all live lessons and engage daily with their teachers. The school will aim to deliver at least two live sessions per day with your child’s Teacher and Teaching Assistant. If your child has SEND needs and has an EHCP or IDP, your child will continue to work on their targets with support from your child’s Teacher and Teaching Assistants.
Safeguarding
We expect to hear from you and your child daily. We understand that this may not always be possible, however, if we have not had any contact in 2 days we will always check-in with a phone call and support you to keep in regular contact. Should we not be able to contact you we may make an unannounced home visit or seek guidance from other agencies as per our safeguarding responsibility and policy.
Free School Meals
We are currently using Morrisons as a delivery service of food parcels to families who are in receipt of FSM through the benefits system. This is run by and managed by the supermarket chain. A privacy notice from Morrisons can be found HERE. There is also an Allergies Advice document available HERE. Please always check the label. If you require any additional support with allergies, please contact the school.
Please be aware that it will be only parents/carers of pupils who meet the requirements of FSM through the benefits entitlement scheme who will qualify for support. Children who receive FSM as part of the UIFSM system which entitles all KS1 children to a meal will not receive support during this Lockdown. We know many of you will already be aware of this as this was the case last year.
As a reminder, if parents go to this website, they can still apply for FSM under the benefits entitlement scheme and when approved will receive support when it becomes available.
Attendance
We will be tracking attendance during the lockdown period and ask that you:
- Are in contact with your child’s class teacher daily
- Ensure your child accesses their learning daily, including attending live lessons, and submits their work to their class teacher for feedback
- If your child is ill you must inform the school by phone or your child’s class teacher using Class DoJo by 8.45 am
