Another fantastic afternoon working on our clay rock pools with ceramics artist, Mrs Lee. Today, we have sculpted creatures that live in rock pools and used techniques such as scoring and applying slip to ensure they form a strong bond with the structure of our rock pool.

We then added detail using cocktail sticks, a clay gun and pencils. Followed by using brushes and water to smooth out any edges ready for glazing in Mrs Lee’s kiln!

At the end of our session, we had opportunity to ask Mrs Lee questions about her history of pottery and ceramics and she showed us the kiln that our rock pools will be placed in.

We already can’t wait for our next session. Well done Year 6!
