Creating our own natural prehistoric dye in Y3B

Today children foraged the local environment to search for natural resources that will make a good prehistoric dye ready for our weaving next week in art.

Children learnt that in the Stone Age, people would use berries, nuts, leaves, spices from the environment to dye clothes which were made from animal skin!

We completed a scientific investigation to answer our enquiry: which natural ingredient will make the best prehistoric dye?”

Upon observation, we discovered that strawberries and the spice turmeric has the best coverage and gave us the most vibrant, deeper colours.

Well done Class 4!
