Year 5 Explore Streams and Brooks at Longshaw Estate

Within our topic, Year 5 are studying rivers and streams as part of our geographical studies.

Today, Year 5 visited Longshaw Estate where children learnt about erosion, how streams feed into rivers and how rivers can meander.

As part of todays learning, the children carried out a river study where they measured the width of a stream, recorded the speed at which the water travelled and measured the average depth from taking measurements at different points.

We explored the moors and learns about habitats that you might find in this location.

Thank you to all staff that came today to make today a success. Take a look at todays learning at Longshaw…
