Observational Science in Year 4

This week, Class 6 have planned and carried out an investigation to see which liquids cause the most tooth decay.

We used eggs to represent our teeth, because the shell of an egg works a bit like the enamel on our teeth, protecting the egg inside like our enamel protects the inside of our teeth…

We observed changes to the egg shell after 24 and 48 hours immersed in each liquid …

Some caused more damage than others … we observed discolouring of some shells, cracking, and in one case, the shell had complete dissolved!

Can you guess which liquid caused the most damage?

Here are our results from least to most damaging to our teeth!

Fantastic scientific learning, Class 6! I wonder if Class 5 will get the same results when they do theirs next week?
