Have you ever wondered what happens to your shadow throughout the day?
In year 5, we have been analysing what happen to our shadows over a period of time. Today, we answered some of our enquiry questions. We now know that it’s the Earth that is rotating on its axis! Some of our predictions weren’t right, but we really enjoyed learning about the Earth in relation to the sun.
We’ve found out that during the winter, the North Pole is tilted away from the Sun’s rays. As Earth travels around the Sun, the tilt of Earth changes.
By around June, the North Pole is tilted towards the Sun, and the days become very long.
Interesting, we’ve found out that the Earth takes a year to orbit the Sun, and it is the tilt which creates the seasons.
