As part of maths capacity and volume learning, class 5 decided to make a diversity potion. The children were given a recipe of different amounts. Things on the recipe included, gender, skin colour, height. The children had to use a cup initially to estimate how much would be needed and then use the measuring jug provided to assist.
We then used our column addition skills to assist with checking if our recipe was accurate buy totalling up the amount of liquid required.
We concluded that, yes everybody’s potion was different as it was made up of different amounts and that some were presented differently but actually they were all the same as they were “just potions made out of water” this made us think about how this is the same with people. We might present ourselves differently to others but we are still all the same as we are all human beings!
