In Acorns, we have been looking at friendship. We started by looking at who our friends are. We then chose one special friend and painted a portrait of them, using their photo to talk about real colours and features of people’s faces. We made a circle on the carpet and talked about what makes a good friend, the children chose someone from the circle that made a good friend and shared with us why they think that person is a good friend. Each time another child was chosen we passed the string to them, creating a large web. We then looked at what would happen when we say hurtful things to our friends. As a visual stimulus we cut the strings between friends that had been hurtful, showing that if you are not kind you will be left without friendships.
