Exploring Pumpkins

This week in Acorns, we have enjoyed exploring pumpkins using all of our senses. We cut the top off and opened it up to see what was inside. “It’s like a surprise” We used words such as “soft”, “wet” and “slimy”. We enjoyed smelling the pumpkin and describing it “It smells like cheese” “It smells funny” We talked about the uses of a pumpkin “You carve it”, “You put lights in it” and “You put a face on it” We did all the things the children discussed. We also talked about eating pumpkins and what we would have to do to them to be able to eat them. We used the internet to search for different recipes. We then explored the pumpkins and their seeds independently within the provision. We had a great time!
